At the beginning of our project we constructed a sticky note timeline together as a group on an A3 sheet of paper. On the sheet of paper we put together a 3 part structure. The structure was for the beginning, the middle as well as the end of our thriller trailer.
The first segment of the structure (Part 1) was slow paced, however the concept within this was that we were to introduce our two main characters in the story. (Allowing us to create enigmas of why these two characters are important through the actions they are completing).
The second section of the structure (Part 2) was in regards to building up pace and tension as we had the introduction to the settings, the police attempting to track the two main characters down as well as some very fast paced action-packed chase scenes. Part 2 also consisted of captions being placed between specific shots (such as 'Betrayal').
Part 3 consisted of the end section of the trailer to finalise the taster of the story. This was where we had a cliff hanger, a gun shot would be heard and it would be conveniently timed where both of our main characters are staring at each other very aggressively creating tension for the audience and causing them to question what happened and why through enigma codes left behind.
Shot List
The next phase was creating the shot list that was to follow the current timeline plan we constructed. We used and labelled specific shots to scenes where we thought would be necessary. A simple example would be that we used a low-angle shot to make the antagonist look powerful therefore making the other actors in the shot seem weak in comparison.
Storyboard Construction
Basing these off of the shot-list once we had pieced together the timeline plan and the shots, we wanted to create a more visual feel to see how the trailer could plan out and whether or not it would make a good trailer to entice the audience.
Further on we transformed this into a short animatic video to get a better perspective on the trailer and give more of an idea of how it would look one production was done and how the shots would all flow together.
Animatic visuals
The next step in the process was to develop the storyboards into a moving video of all the shots put together, allowing us to see what it would look like as a finished product.
